Fedora Cluster‎ > ‎

Munge daemon

In order to run jobs using the Torque queue manager, we need a system for the nodes to recognise each other and their users. The program that performs this task is called munge. The configuration of this program is very simple but it has to be done separately from that of the Torque queue manager.

First of all, install the code
# dnf install munge

Then we have to create a secret key in one of the computers
dd if=/dev/urandom bs=1 count=1024 >/etc/munge/munge.key
chown munge:munge /etc/munge/munge.key
chmod go-rwx /etc/munge/munge.key

This key has to be copied to all computers that will form part of the cluster. We finally set up the server with
service munge start
chkconfig munge on
